KARACHI, May 3: Normal shipping activity was witnessed at the port where two ships scheduled to load, unload containers and wheat were allotted berths at QICT and MPT, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Meanwhile, five more ships to load, unload containers, cement, and edible oil arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Berth occupancy remained at 80 per cent at the port where eight ships currently occupied berths to load, unload containers, rice, wheat, edible oil, furnace oil and chemicals during the period under review.

The port handled 68,656 tons of cargo comprising 55,003 tons imports and 13,653 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 461 Teus.

Departures from the port were fairly okay where two container ships and an oil tanker sailed out during the report period.
