PESHAWAR, May 1: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has reiterated its stand that President Pervez Musharraf is not acceptable to it as the head of the state either as a civilian or in uniform.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday to welcome Kakshal Union Council Nazim Haroon Ayub and his supporters on rejoining the party, provincial PPP president Rahimdad Khan said the PPP would never betray the masses.

Mr Ayub said he had been a staunch party activist for a long time but he had left it during the local bodies’ elections over some minor differences.

He said that the popularity of the PPP was increasing because of the prevailing unemployment, price hike and lawlessness.

Rejecting any deal with the military government, he said the party was struggling for the restoration of real democracy.

Referring to some statements of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leaders, he said negotiations were parts of the political process and they should not be given a wrong meaning.
