LAHORE, April 27: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has congratulated its umpire Aleem Dar on his appointment to supervise the World Cup final.
This is the second time when a Pakistani umpire will stand in the final of a World Cup after Mahboob Shah, who had supervised the 1987 final in Kolkata.
A PCB spokesman said the nomination was a mere recognition of Aleem's remarkable skills as one of the best umpires of modern day cricket in the world.
Aleem, within a year of his debut as One-day International umpire in 2000 had been elevated to the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires that consists of only nine top umpires from cricketing world.—Sports Correspondent
