KARACHI, April 27: Popularly known as the prince of Tabla, Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari of Punjab Gharana will team up on Saturday with sitar maestro Nafees Khan to present to music enthusiasts jugalbandi at the Arts Council at 7pm.

The concert is being organized by the Arts Council’s special events committee to enable music lovers to see arguably one of the best tabla players, who lives abroad, perform in the city.

Tari attributes his success to his ustad, Mian Shuakat Hussain. Apart from running a music academy in the United States, he undertakes many fusion projects with the aim of popularizing the subcontinent’s percussion instrument all over the world. He has performed with Professor V. G. Jog, Pundit Jasraj, L. Subramnium, Ustad Wilayat Khan and others.

Sitarnawaz Nafees Ahmad Khan, known for his leykaari, is one of the most accomplished artistes of Pakistan.
