LAHORE, April 26: The Supreme Court Bar Association on Thursday termed false and just a propaganda the news of no-confidence move by 11 members of its executive committee against bar president Munir A Malik.

At a press conference, vice-president Sahibzada Anwar Hamid condemned the statement made by Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum (retired), who had claimed that 11 members of the executive committee had shown distrust on the bar president.

He said Mr Qayyum was a government spokesman, and he was trying to mislead the people and lawyers. He said Mr Qayyum had not been invited to the executive committee meeting, and he was nobody to issue such statements.

He said the media could confirm all news about meeting of the executive committee from the president, vice-president and secretary of SCBA before publishing it.

Sahibzada said all actions being taken by the government against media were condemnable, adding that the lawyers would support the media at any such stage.
