ISLAMABAD, April 23: A ruling party member from Punjab was arrested on Monday on charges of abetting a double murder after the Supreme Court rejected his interim bail.

Mir Badshah Qaisrani, MPA from Taunsa, was arrested after a three-member bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Nasirul Mulk, declined to confirm his bail.

The bench was hearing a complaint filed by Ms Allah Wasai against Mir Qaisrani, parliamentary secretary for Industries in the Punjab Assembly, on a suo motu case initiated by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
