VEHARI, April 21: A woman was killed by her husband at a ‘punchayat’ here on Saturday at Chak 12/WB over an exchange marriage (watta satta) issue.

Reports said Perveen Bibi d/o Lal Din had been married to Sajid Husain of Sundylianwali a few years back.

On Wednesday, daughter-in-law of Lal Din returned to her parents’ house over some domestic issue. As a result Perveen was also sent to her parents’ home with her three children at Chak 12/WB.

When Sajid went to his in-laws to bring his wife back, Perveen’s parents refused to do so.

Later, a punchayat was held at the outhouse of lumberdar Zafar Husain at Chak 12/WB. The punchayat decided that Perveen would go back to her in-laws after a week. After the decision, Sajid suddenly attacked his wife with a dagger, injuring her seriously. She died on way to hospital. She had two daughters and a two-month-old son. Area people caught Sajid and handed him over to Saddar police.
