BRIDGETOWN, April 19: A report into allegations of late-night drinking within the South African World Cup camp are to be discussed between the team and management, a statement said on Wednesday.

Some South Africa players, who were not named, were seen on an alleged drinking spree after their defeat by New Zealand on Saturday in Grenada and fans complained to the media.

Governing body Cricket South Africa (CSA) promised to investigate the incident and on Wednesday the body released a statement saying that chief executive Gerald Majola had received a report on the matter.

The release added that Majola would discuss the report with the squad and their management before deciding on further action.

South Africa bounced back from the New Zealand defeat with a nine-wicket thrashing of England to clinch a semi-final place on Tuesday. They will probably play Australia in St Lucia on Wednesday for a place in the final.

New Zealand and Sri Lanka are expected to meet in the other semi-final in Jamaica on Tuesday.—Reuters
