Injured prisoner dies in hospital

KHAIRPUR, April 18: A prisoner, who had suffered serious injuries in a clash between two groups of prisoners at the Central Jail of Khairpur, died at Civil Hospital on Wednesday.

Abdul Jabbar had sustained wounds in a clash between two groups of prisoners four days ago and was referred to Nawabshah hospital for treatment but the hospital refused to admit him on the pretext that they had no ward to keep prisoners. The following day he was returned to the Civil Hospital Khairpur where he died on Wednesday. His body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem.

The relatives blamed that the negligent doctors and jail authorities for Jabbar’s death and said that they failed to provide him medical treatment in time.—PPI
