KOHAT, April 18: Members of Kohat district and tehsil councils have unanimously decided to summon the executive engineer of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company and ask him to stop unannounced loadshedding, warning that, otherwise, they would ask people to stop paying their bills.

The members of the council had gathered in the Kohat Development Authority Town Hall.

The meeting was presided over jointly by the conveners of the two councils.

The participants discussed a motion presented by Union Councils’ Nazims Mahtabul Hassan, Mir Zaman and Tehsin Ahmed. They regretted that Pesco had paid no heed to their repeated requests to stop loadshedding and said the XEN should be summoned in the next meeting.

They decided that, as meetings of the district council were held once a month, a delegation should meet the XEN on Thursday to ask him for the last time to solve the problem.

Musarat Shafi criticised Pakistan Muslim League leaders for arranged a mixed gathering for women and men on the occasion of address by Minister of State Ameer Muqam and federal

Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani. She criticised the arrangements and complained that there was no water for the children accompanying women councillors invited to the function. “The nazim kept repeating and announcement made three years ago by the minister of state about a grant for women,” she said.
