HYDERABAD, April 18: Consul General of Switzerland Martin Bienz said on Wednesday that the two countries had sound trade relations which were getting strong with the passage of time.

He said at a meeting with District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil at Circuit House that thousands of Pakistanis were living in Switzerland and many Swiss companies were working in Hyderabad, Jamshoro and other parts of the country.

He said that Hyderabad was a peaceful city and most suitable for foreign investment.

Referring to the Swiss pharmaceutical and chemical companies in Jamshoro, the consul general said that many Swiss multinational companies were working in different parts of the country.

He said that bilateral trade relations had received a tremendous boost during the last few years and Switzerland was exporting textile machinery, medicines and chemicals to Pakistan and importing garments.

He evinced keen interest in the historical places of the city and said that if the tourism department made some efforts the tourism would receive a great impetus.

Briefing the consul general about development schemes the nazim said that during past 18 months the district government had undertaken development works of over Rs6.5 billion.
