LAHORE, April 17: Bay gelding Speed Demon will be on the course to display his demonic speed and win the feature event during the Lahore Gymkhana midweek races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The hugely built seven-year-old son of Polinesso, Speed Demon, has won two races and placed thrice in his six outings to date.

The way he beat Sher-e-Lahore by nine lengths on April 11, he looks set to make it two in-a-row for owner Masood Pervaiz and trainer I. Nawab. His close rivals could be Mubashara and Moj Mayla.

This is the fourth race of the day which will be contested over 900 metres.

The supporting and third event, a class-V division-II handicap race, has nine runners if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them, three come into reckoning, namely Sher-e-Lahore, Jewna and Rana Choice. They should finish in the same order.

Sign Of Success, Tosca and Fearless Boy are the pick of a dozen drawn for the fifth and last race of the day. Sign Of Success, beaten by Faryal in the last outing on April 4, should make amends and win this time.

Sun Ray, Rang Dey Basanti and Cheeta Aya are good in the second race. Sun Ray has an edge over the others.

Love Minister, Janu and Wendy look on chance in the opener. They should finish in the same order. However, performance of riders matters most in this event. The race will be held at 3pm.
