KARACHI, April 17: As many as 80 people were deprived either of their cars, motorbikes, or cellphones in various localities here on Tuesday.

Police sources said that 11 vehicles – five cars and 11 motorcycles – were either hijacked or stolen in various areas. One car was hijacked and four others stolen while three motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint and eight others were reported stolen.

Similarly, 22 people reported that they had been deprived of their cellular phones, cash and belongings at gunpoint. Forty-two other people complained to the police that their mobile phones were stolen.

SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Orangi Town here in the wee hours on Tuesday.

Ghulam Murtaza, in his twenties, went to see his uncle in Orangi Town and on his way back home in Block-A, North Nazimabad, some unknown gunmen intercepted him near Qasba Mor and pumped six bullets into his body.

The victim died on the spot. The body was later shifted to a hospital for autopsy where the victim’s identity was established. Police believed the murder could be a cause of an old enmity as the victim’s uncle was also murdered in the past.
