QUETTA, April 16: Power supply to Guddu power plant from Uch was suspended on Monday as two towers of the transmission line were blown up near Dera Allahyar. Police sources said explosive devices went off near two pylons of the 220kV transmission line near Dera Allahyar bypass in the evening.

However, power supply to Nasirabad, Jaffarabad and other areas was not affected as they were getting supply from Sindh.

Meanwhile, the Quetta Electric Supply Company restored power supply to 18 districts of Balochistan after repairing 11 huge towers of the main transmission lines blown up in Bolan district two week ago.

The supply of the districts had been suspended on March 27 when four towers of Quetta-Sibi 220kV and 132kV transmission lines were blown up in Aab-i-Gum area.

While Qesco staff was replacing the damaged towers, four other towers were blown up in Mach area and two were found damaged later.

Qesco Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Shafiq Khattak said the repair had cost around Rs 8 million and the company had lost Rs 20 million revenue daily.
