MUAFFARGARH, April 16: The district government taking action on recent violence by workers against the administration of a construction company at Taunsa Barrage has called representatives of workers and administration on April 18 for an inquiry.
On April 8, 3,000 workers blocked road and resorted to violence against the administration of the company on allegation that the company had not given them salary in time and in some cases their salaries had been delayed for three months. Labourers beat a few officials and burnt computers. Company administrator Muhammad Manzoor got registered cases against 26 labourers.
Executive District Officer (Community Development) Malik Khair Muhammad Budh confirmed the district government had called in both parties on April 18 to probe into the matter. He said the district government would ensure that neither party exploited each other.
