LAHORE, April 14: The Cantonment investigation police claimed on Saturday to have arrested five members of two gangs along with looted valuables and illegal weapons. The accused, who had shot dead two people in Manawan and were involved in a number of robbery and street crimes, have confessed to 30 crimes during preliminary interrogation.

Two special teams were constituted on the directive of DIG to arrest the criminals. The first team arrested Nadeem alias Deema Butt, Mansha and Fayyaz from Defence Road on a tip-off.

They had allegedly shot dead friends Aamir and Imran of Kamonke in the Manawan area after snatching their car on March 28. They had come to Lahore to drop Aamir’s sister-in-law at Chauburji.

Their bullet-riddled bodies were found on the morning of March 29 near Mandu Gujran Chowk and their belongings, including cell phones and a car, were found missing.

They confessed to their involvement in more than 17 robberies and street crime.

The second team nabbed Shahbaz alias Shahbazi and Nadeem from a park on Ghazi Road.

The criminals used to snatch gold ornaments, cell phones and cash from passers-by at gunpoint.

The police recovered one car, one motorcycle, four cell phones and jewellery, including rings and bracelets, and cash besides weapons form their possession.
