Journalist beaten up by PPP MNA

Published April 14, 2007

ISLAMABAD, April 13: A journalist working for a television network was thrashed by an MNA of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians in front of the Supreme Court here on Friday.

Ghulam Murtuza Satti roughed up KTN’s Shakir Solangi when the journalist requested him to stop talking while he was recording an interview with PPP President Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

As Mr Satti ignored the request, Mr Solangi remonstrated with him, touching his chin. This angered the legislator, who caught the journalist by the neck and beat him up.

Mr Amin Fahim and other leaders of the People’s Party did nothing to stop the MNA.

The MNA later apologised to Mr Solangi.
