Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, April 12: Berthing activity on Thursday on the Karachi port was maintained on the higher side as port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels.

According to KPT sources 10 ships, Lady Sama to load cement, Hyundai Advance, Y.M. Energy, Iran Hesabi and Global Prosperity to unload and load containers, Rickmers Doha, BBC England and Tor Futura to unload and load general cargo, Reliance Ocean to offload coal and Lalazar to unload crude oil were berthed.

Sailing was also active as eight ships, Reen, Zhong Yang, Al-Ishaa, Harmony, Oel Esteem, Geo Baltic, Nafto Cement-11 and APL Brisbane departed on Thursday, while Y.M. Energy, Ntzdan, Global Prosperity, Hyundai Advance, BBC England, Tor Futura, Benarita, Liberty Spirit, Lalazar and Rickmers Doha are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity showed a modest expansion as the total tonnage rose to 92,278 tons from the previous average of 65,000 tons comprising 24,239 tons of export tonnage and 68,039 tons of imported goods.

The following ships are due on Friday: Calvin P. Titus, Orient Independence and Corin Thaikos with containers and Hoa Phat-02 with project cargo.
