KHAIRPUR, April 11: One of the main accomplices of bandit Begho Khan Marri gang, Gulsher alias Gulshoo Marri was gunned down in an encounter with the police near Soomar Jalbani village within the jurisdiction of Tando Masti police station on Tuesday.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, DPO Khairpur Din Mohammad Balocn, said a heavy contingent of police encircled him while he was going to the agriculture field of one Nisar Jalbani to collect extortion money along with his three accomplices.

The police party challenged him but he opened fire and the police retaliated. An encounter took place as a result which Gulsher alias Gulshoo Marri died on the spot. His accomplices escaped from the scene.

According to DPO, Gulshoo Marri was wanted in 26 cases pending against him with Tando Masti Khan, Kot Diji and Ahmedpur police stations which included house and road robberies and encounters.

He further said that Gulshoo Marri was also accused of robbing passenger coaches on the National Highway.

He was a permanent threat to the administration in Tando Masti Khan, Gambat and Ahmedpur. The police had announced Rs five lac on his head.
