Four of a family run over by truck

SAHIWAL, April 11: Four family members were run over by a speeding truck on Burewala-Chichawatni Road at Chak 164-A/9-L on Wednesday. Reports said that Khalid and his four other family members were waiting for a bus along the road when the truck (PRE-7150) ran them over. As a result, Nazim, the wife of Khalid, her sister Khalida, Abdullah, 5, and Hamza, 3, died on the spot while Khalid sustained serious injuries.

Ghaziabad police have registered a case against the absconding driver.

Two persons were killed and 35 others received injuries, nine of them serious, in another accident on Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road near Chak 110/9-L.

A bus (LES-596), bringing devotees back to Shorkot from Deepalpur, overturned due to high speed. Consequently, Sarfaraz and Furqan died on the spot while 35 sustained injuries. They were admitted to the DHQ Hospital where the condition of Zainab, Sagheeran, Irshad, Mansha, Shahid, Shahzad, Asif, Iftikhar Khan and Shamim was stated to be serious.

Police have instituted a case.
