SIALKOT, April 10: The District Bar Association (DBA) cancelled on Tuesday the membership of National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Ameer Husain for supporting the suspension of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as chief justice of Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference, DBA President Muhammad Iqbal Harrar and General Secretary Syed Najam Ali Gilani said the bar was proud of its act of cancelling Mr Husain’s membership.

The DBA president said lawyers in Sialkot would observe a “black day” today (Wednesday) during the visit of President General Pervez Musharraf to Sialkot.

He said lawyers would take out a rally against Gen Musharraf to condemn his steps against the judiciary.
