KASUR, April 10: The District Bar Association (DBA) has suspended memberships of 19 lawyers, including two parliamentary secretaries and two former DBA presidents, for attending a government-sponsored lawyers’ convention on April 9 at Alhamra in Lahore, according to a press release issued by the bar on Tuesday.

DBA President Chaudhry Munir Ahmed sent the names to the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) for the cancellation of their licences.

The lawyers attended the convention against the instructions by the PbBC and those include: parliamentary secretaries Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan and Malik Muhammad Saeed Ahmed Khan, former DBA presidents Sardar Muhammad Ashiq Dogar and Sardar Qurban Ali Dogar, Malik Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Mahmood Ahmed, Malik Riaz Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Shafiq Khan, Hafiz Rizwan Aziz, Ghulam Murtaza Ansari, Hassan Din Ansari, MM Shafiq, Mehr Wazir Ali, Sardar Hamayun, Ali Ahmed, M Aslam, Javed Iqbal, Malik Nawaz and Shazia Gilani.
