KARACHI, Feb 26: Seven ships carrying general cargo including jute are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was well below the daily average owing to slow arrivals and as a result seven ships were berthed and sailed out, the average at BOPs and dry wharves being 33 and 39 per cent, respectively.

Three ships, Jamila, MSC Carmen to unload and load containers, and Celestina to off-load general cargo were berthed after the sailing of Sinar Riau, Sinar Bali, Kota Selam and Pinta.

Four others, Jamila, SC Carmen, Bombay Star and Song He are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 73,793 tons comprising 11,406 tons of export cargo including 1,285 tons of rice and 62,387 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Shirvan, with crude oil, Maersk Pride, with gas oil, Al-Mariyah, Leixoes, Rosa-M, MSC Serena, with containers and Banglar Gourats, with 7,376 tons of raw jute.
