Hafeez gives Punjab fine start

KARACHI, April 9: Pakistan opener Mohammad Hafeez spearheaded a fine display by Punjab batsmen on the first day of the Pentangular Cup fixture against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at the NBP Sports Complex here on Monday.

Hafeez spanked 88 off 135 deliveries with the aid of 12 fours and a brace of sixes as Punjab amassed 325 for four after skipper Misbah-ul-Haq called correctly at the toss.

Imran Nazir, another Pakistan opener, lashed nine fours and one six in a blistering 41-ball 60 as he and Hafeez put on 115 for the first wicket.

Misbah (43) and Bilal Khilji (41) also batted as did Naved Latif who is still at the crease with 64, inclusive of 11 fours and one six.

Bilal Asad claimed three for 44 with his medium-pacers.
