PESHAWAR, April 5: The Progressive Businessmen Forum Pakistan (PBFP) has asked the government to appoint an independent administrator for the implementation of the Trade Organisation Rules 2007.

In a letter addressed to Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan, Sentaor Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, leader of the forum, supported the new rules and anticipated that it would eliminate fake trade bodies.

He, however, expressed concern that the existing leadership at Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) didn’t want the implementation of the new legislation.

“At least two of the existing vice-presidents of the FPCCI have been elected on the platform of fake trade bodies, that is why the incumbent leadership of the apex body is against the new rules,” Mr Bilour alleged.

He asked the federal government to appoint an administrator for the implementation of the new law in the larger national interests.

Meanwhile, Tribal Areas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI) has rejected the new trade ordinance and termed it against the interests of traders and industrialists.

In a recently held meeting of the executive committee with Akbar Khan in the chair, the TACCI said that the rules adopted for the implementation of the ordinance was not in favour of the small chambers and associations.
