Saeed, Ashar put KRL on top

KARACHI, April 4: An undefeated century by Saeed bin Nasir and equally good batting from Ashar Zaidi put Khan Research Laboratories in command of their Pentangular Cup match against NWFP-Balochistan at the UBL Sports Complex here on Wednesday.

Saeed hit 101 while Ashar scored 98 as KRL piled up 352 for five in reply to the combined regional team’s modest first-innings total of 221.

Resuming at 58 for no loss, Saeed Anwar (39) and Yasir Hameed (56, seven fours) put on 80 for the opening stand. But the day belonged to Ashar, who hit 10 boundaries before falling to Janisar Khan’s medium-pacers, and Saeed, whose 171-ball innings includes 12 fours and one six. Together they put on 155 for the third wicket.
