Export house for SMEs

KARACHI, April 4: Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has sought the permission of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for setting up of SME Export House.

Unisame president Zulfikar Thaver in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that the trade policy for FY07 had declared that SME Export House would be established and the SMEs had been waiting to get benefit from the working of the house in promotion of their wares and products.

He said that the export house could also carry out the business of export indenting for SMEs, which do not have the facilities of marketing their products. He further said that the TDAP can provide the Unisame funds for establishing the house and also run it for the promotion of exports of SME products.

He also demanded separate ministries for the SME sector at provincial and federal levels for full-fledged SME promotion and development on war-footings.
