LAHORE, April 3: The Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) executive committee has demanded of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to restore the role of the cricket associations, in appointing selectors and coaches with its team for the domestic tournaments.

LCCA president, Aamir Hayat Khan Rokri said the committee was of the view that unnecessary interruption of the PCB in the affairs of the LCCA damaged the performance in the domestic competitions.

"During the current season the PCB appointed selectors and coaches of the LCCA teams have bitterly failed in having a fair selection, which resulted in poor performance by the undeserving players, for which the PCB is responsible," he said.

The LCCA fielded two teams one each in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold (Lahore Shalimar) and Silver League (Lahore Ravi).

The Shalimar team, coached by former Test bowler Mohsin Kamal had been relegated to the Silver League after finishing at bottom with no win from six matches.

The Ravi team also survived a big up set, before finishing third in six-team contest with 15 points. The Ravi had conceded first innings lead to Abbotabad before winning by performing well in the second innings.

He said the PCB must allow the cricket associations to run their affairs autonomously.
