GUJRANWALA, April 2: The two most wanted human agents, who had drowned some half a dozen people into the sea by right of overloading in boats, were arrested along with their five sub-agents following raids by an FIA passport cell team on Monday.

The FIA team raided some places in Mandi Bahauddin and Rawalpindi and arrested Tawwakal and Malik Sher, a former air force officer. The team also nabbed sub-agents — Nusrat Butt, Mian Idrees, Dr Farooq Rashid, Haji Muhammad Rafiq and his son Zahid.

The name of accused Tawwakal had found a place in the ‘red book’ as he was involved in sending about 1,500 people to Greece en route Iran. The accused had taken shelter in his office in Turkey during a crackdown on human agents in Pakistan.

CONTEMPT NOTICE: A local court on Monday issued a contempt of court notice to four police officers, including an SP and a DSP, for arresting an accused involved in a bounce cheque case before even waiting for the verdict on his bail application.
