KHAR, April 2: A woman and her son were killed and two other members of a family, including a girl, were injured when roof of a room in their house collapsed owing to torrential rain in the Chaharmang area on Monday morning.

Residents said the room in the house of Faqir Mohammad in the Tangi village collapsed early in the morning, burying alive his wife, aged 40 years, while his son Amjad and Lal Said, 25, and Robina, 10, were injured.

The villagers rushed to the house and carried out the rescue work.

After hours long struggle, they retrieved the two bodies.

The injured girl and the man were taken to a hospital.

The rain accompanied by a severe hailstorm lashed large parts of the Bajaur Agency, playing havoc with telephone, electricity and road network.

The rain also damaged wheat crop and orchards and caused flash floods in natural watercourses and roads to many upper parts of the agency.
