TOBA TEK SINGH, March 31: Elections for the district naib nazim’s seat, which were scheduled to be held on April 2, will now be held on April 9.

A notice pasted on Saturday on the returning officer’s notice board said that elections had been postponed on the orders of the Chief Election Commissioner.

Rana Zafar Ahmad, a union council nazim of the ruling group from Rajana, had moved the Lahore High Court pleading that the election schedule was announced in haste and no date had been fixed for scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates.

Justice Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi had summoned the Toba assistant election commissioner and Faisalabad deputy election commissioner on April 2 which necessitated the CEC to postpone the elections.
