PESHAWAR, March 28: Some 64 per cent of the development work in the Kurram Agency has been completed and all uplift projects there are likely to be completed by June.

This was observed on Wednesday at a meeting held under the chairmanship of the political agent of the area, Sahibzada Mohammad Anis. The meeting was informed that the government had allocated Rs632.6 million for various development projects in the agency, of which Rs330.8 million had already been spent.

A total of 104 projects were initiated in the agency during the current year, the officers attending the meeting were told. Mr Anis termed the amount of work initiated “unprecedented” and urged all departments concerned to accelerate the pace of the projects to ensure their timely completion. He added that the government would not tolerate delays. The governor had directed heads of different departments to ensure 100 per cent utilisation of funds.—APP
