FAISALABAD, March 27: The Allied Hospital doctors on Tuesday observed a token strike against what they said the failure of the administration to pay increment to them.

The strike call was given by the Doctors Action Committee constituted for the purpose.

The committee held dialogues with the administration to resolve the issue of increment. However, the administration straightforwardly refused to pay increments.

Doctors did not attend patients in the OPD and some other wards. However, working of emergency was continued.

Carrying banners and placards, the protesters took out a peaceful rally which started from the courtyard of the hospital and terminated at the Punjab Medical College.

Dr Irfan said the committee had tried its utmost to resolve the issue, but the administration seemed to be least interested in this regard.

He said the government had issued a notification of increment in January this year and “We are being driven from pillar to post to get our legitimate right.”
