Mystery shrouds girl’s death

Published March 28, 2007

RAWALPINDI, March 27: A 15-year-old girl died on Tuesday under mysterious circumstances after having breakfast at her uncle’s house located in the Civil Lines police limits.

However, the girl’s father — Munshe Khan — alleged that his daughter was poisoned.

The investigating officer told Dawn that the victim identified as Ijazan Bibi was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital after she started vomiting.

He said a report by the chemical examiner was awaited that would reveal the real cause of the death.

The police said shortly after the girl was pronounced dead by the doctors, the girl’s brother — Mumtaz Khan — clashed with his cousin, Javaid Khan, with whom his sister was to be married.
