MITHI, March 25: The Tharparkar District Council has demanded building for the Government Boys Primary School, Haji Haroon Mohalla, Vaori village, community halls for Dhaklo and Okraro villages, wells for Udani village and Aswani Colony (Mithi) and hand pumps for Baparbah village.

The demands were made through a number of resolutions adopted by the council at its session here on Saturday.

Some members, speaking on a point of order, urged the government to empower the district council to sanction the schemes of community centres.

Through two other resolutions, the council demanded a National Saving Centre branch and also a branch of the National Bank of Pakistan in Mithi.

Tabling a resolution, Kirshan Lal Rathi said that a National Savings Centre branch was opened in Mithi a couple of years ago and it was functioning satisfactorily. However, it was later shifted to Digri consequently the people of Tharparkar, particularly pensioners who invested in the saving schemes, were facing inconvenience, he said.
