LAHORE, March 24: Three members of a family were gunned down while two others injured, one of them critically, by three people over a love marriage dispute in Gujjarpura on Saturday night.

Mughalpura police said accused Ashraf, along with his son Yasir and an unidentified hired assassin, came to his daughter Shabnam’s house in China Scheme and opened fire on the family.

He said Shabnam, 20, her husband Abid, 24, and brother-in-law Asif, 22, were killed on the spot while a bullet pierced through her mother-in-law Razia’s leg.

Abid’s cousin Imran was hit in the head and was shifted to the Mayo Hospital in critical condition along with Razia, they added.

Younas, a resident of Narowal, told police that his son Abid had contracted love marriage with Shabnam of the same area a month ago. Her father Ashraf and brother were against the match.

He said he left Narowal and rented a room in China Scheme to avoid scuffle.

Police teams were sent to Narowal on Saturday night for the arrests of the accused.
