QUETTA, March 23: Governor of Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani on Friday conferred awards on seven personalities from Balochistan at a ceremony held here in the Governor House on Friday.

The president had awarded Pride of Performance to Mr Kalim Khan, chairman of the Fine Arts Department of the University of Balochistan and Bibi Shari for their services in the field of fine arts and Baloch embroidery, respectively.

Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was awarded to Miss Rahila Durrani, MPA, for her services in the field of education, women and child problems.

Others who were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtaiz included Prof Wali Mohammad Khan Sail Kakar (Pashtu literature), Qari Abdul Rasheed (education) and Akbar Ali (posthumous) director of Civil Defence, Balochistan.

Abdul Samad Lasi, DCO of Dera Bugti, was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar, Corps Commander Lt-Gen Hamid Nawaz, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary K.B. Rind, women MPAs, vice-chancellors of various universities, senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony.
