KARACHI, March 22: A 13-member delegation of Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat, headed by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, called on Sindh police chief Jehangir Mirza on Thursday and discussed security arrangements for Rabi-ul-Awwal events. The IG directed senior police officers to finalise security and traffic arrangements for processions and religious gatherings in consultation with religious scholars and leaders.
The delegation discussed the relevant matters and disclosed that besides the main procession on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal on April 4, a procession of children would be taken out on Sunday, March 25. A religious gathering would be held at Kakri Ground in Lyari Town on the night between 11 and 12 of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
Jehangir Mirza directed DIG (Operations) and CCPO Karachi to ensure foolproof security arrangements on all occasions.
Mr Mirza ordered security to all mosques, imambargahs and other religious places besides roof-top police posts, random snap-checking and deployment of police in plainclothes at these places.
