NEW DELHI, March 21: India remains open to “cooperative and consultative mechanism” with Pakistan on Kashmir issue, but there “is no chance of redrawing of boundaries”, said a Defence Ministry’s annual report placed before Indian parliament. Times of India on Wednesday quoted the report as saying that India wanted “good neighbourly relations” with Pakistan and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already declared readiness to find a “pragmatic solution” to the Kashmir issue.

The report said the cooperative mechanism could multiply the gains of cooperation in solving the problems of social and economic development of the region.

The report said the bilateral dialogue process hinged on “building an atmosphere of trust and confidence free from violence and terror”.—APP
