OKARA, March 21: As many as three persons died and 14 others injured when a speedy coaster overturned on Okara-Deepalpur road on Wednesday. Reports said the Deepalpur-bound coaster turned turtle near the additional district headquarters hospital when the driver tried to save a woman, crossing the road, from being hit by the vehicle. The driver’s bid failed and the vehicle overturned after hitting the woman, later identified as Nooran Bibi. She died on the spot.

Two of the coaster passengers — a four-year-old boy, Nazim and his mother — also died in the accident.

The passengers who were injured included Nazir, Allah Wasya, Muhammad Din, Bhatto, Raza Rabbani, Bushra, Akhtar, Rajada, Gulzar, Dilbar, Sharif, Farid and Bagga.

Five of them with critical injuries had been referred to hospitals in Lahore, while the others were getting medical treatment at local hospitals.
