HYDERABAD, March 21: The USAID would help Sindh produce high quality chillies, tomatoes and mangoes for the international markets, through a newly created Competitiveness Support Fund, said Arthur Bayhan, leader of a four-member delegation of the USAID.

The delegation in a meeting with growers and agriculturists on Tuesday underlined the need for innovation, value addition and competitiveness in agricultural production.

The Directorate of Agriculture Information spokesman said that rains, moisture, dust and transportation caused the crops to attract a fungus called Aflatoxin.

The delegation said that the red chillies demand was increasing the world over and Pakistan could capture the largest share of international chillies market through new technologies, good crop management, economic drying system and other post harvest measures.
