MANSEHRA, March 19: Speakers at a meeting held here on Monday said that the action taken against the Chief Justice of Pakistan was aimed at prolonging the rule of General Pervez Musharraf in the country.

The meeting was organised by the PML-N. The meeting called for the immediate reinstatement of Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

It demanded that the rulers should step down and form a consensus government to take the country out of the crisis.

Local leaders of various political parties, including the PPP, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Jamaat-i-Islami and the ANP, traders, journalists, transporters and lawyers attended the meeting.

The speakers called upon the political parties and trade unions, journalists, transporters and civil society organisations to support the bar in its struggle against the government.
