MIRPURKHAS, March 17: Activists of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) staged a rally on Saturday against manhandling and arrest of Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, Maulana Ghafoor Hyderi and other alliance leaders in Islamabad.

MMA leaders Maulana Abdul Hafiz Siyal, Maulana Ramzan Rehmani and Ehsan Ilahi Mughal condemned the incident in their addresses to the rally.

Meanwhile, lawyers continued their boycott of court proceedings and observed a token hunger strike. In Umerkot lawyers, journalists and activists of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) brought out separate rallies.

Journalists staged a rally against attack on offices of Geo TV and observed a sit-in outside the press club.

The second rally was taken out by lawyers. Carrying banners, placards and flags they started from district and sessions court and culminated at the press club after passing through different roads.

Jai Dev Sharma, Chaudhry Aftab, Abdul Aziz, Chaudhry Mohammad Azhar Arain, Jawed Kumbhar and Gul Hassan Panhwar condemned the president’s action against the chief justice and police attack on TV channel.

The third rally was organised by the activists of PML-F against a reference against Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah.

PML-F leader Rasool Bux Rehmdani praised the services of Muzaffar Hussain Shah and demanded withdrawal of reference against him.
