KARACHI, March 17: Widespread intermittent rain is expected to hit the country for three to four days from Sunday and a partial solar eclipse is also occurring on Monday morning, the Met official informed Dawn.

Pakistan Meteorological Department director-general Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry said that many areas of Sindh, specially upper and central parts, and Karachi in the south were likely to receive the rain for the next couple of days. It expected to start late on Sunday evening may continue intermittently till late Monday evening.

Coastal areas of Balochistan, including Gwadar, are expected to receive moderate-to-heavy rain from Sunday and the spell is expected to continue till Monday. Northeast and central Balochistan are also likely to receive a moderate rain.

Upper and central parts of Punjab are expected to receive scattered rain from Sunday evening and the spell is expected to continue intermittently till Tuesday night. Southern Punjab may also receive isolated rain on Monday.

Many parts of NWFP are likely to receive widespread rain for three to four days and upper parts of the NWFP may, at times, receive heavy rain.

The Met official said that many parts of Kashmir and the Northern Areas, including quake-hit areas, were expected to receive moderate, and at times heavy, rain and snowfall in the next three to four days.
