KARACHI, March 17: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and Deputy Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Mian Raza Rabbani on Saturday strongly condemned what he called the shameful, barbaric and brutal attack of the Punjab police on peaceful lawyers in Lahore and demanded of the regime to resign immediately.

In a statement, the PPP leader lambasted the government for violating the sanctity and building of Lahore High Court and said that it was for the first time in the history of the subcontinent that the police had broken into a high court premises in armed personnel carriers.

He said this was the worst form of state terrorism and throw into the dustbin whatever remained of the Constitution without any check or balance.

Mr Rabbani said it seemed the regime wanted to crush all pillars of the State with brute force. He demanded that the government should resign immediately for the shameful attack on the LHC.
