KARACHI, March 14: The federal government has approved a village electrification plan costing Rs8.5 million for the rural areas of Karachi.

Eighty six villages will be provided electricity in phases. In the first phase, 17 villages in Keamari Town will be provided power. They are Mubarak Village, Gul Hasan Goth, Bhotni Goth, Raees Khuda Bukhsh Goth, Murad Goth, Abdullah Goth, Raees Moosa Goth, Raees Ilyas Goth, Mohammad Soomar Goth, Haji Samano Goth, Haji Siddique Goth, Haji Mohammad Siddiq Goth, Mohammad Hashim Goth, Ghulam Sarwar Goth, Singo Goth and Abdullah Goth. Most villages in Keamari Town are without basic facilities. Supply of electricity and water are the main problems.

The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum has called a meeting of various organisations and elders of Gabopat UCs to discuss the water supply problem.
