GUJRAT, March 12: Raja Massod Sarwar facing kidnap for ransom charges in the UK is considered to be a known politician from Sarai Alamgir. Britain police arrested Sarwar and his accomplice Rehmat in the last month after Zaman Mughal from Mirpur approached police that the accused had received £240,000 to release his brother Sabir Mughal who was kidnapped from Pakistan. Sarwar contested the election for tehsil nazim against Chaudhry Abdur Rahman in 2001.

Rahman is the uncle of former provincial law minister Chaudhry Farooq who was murdered in 2002. Sarwar was nominated in the Farooq murder case and was handed down life term by court. Later, he was acquitted of the charge by a superior court.
