LAHORE, March 11: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said President Pervez Musharraf has fulfilled his legal and constitutional responsibility by sending reference to the Supreme Judicial Council against restrained Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

He was talking to mediamen at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Sunday.

The chief minister said the SJC was an independent and highest forum of judiciary, and the reference sent to it was as per requirements of the constitution.

He said “we all should demonstrate a complete sense of responsibility keeping in view the legal and constitutional demands. No body has the right to pressurise this supreme forum through strikes or demonstrations.”
