KARACHI: Water shortage

KARACHI, March 6: Residents of various localities of Lyari have expressed concern at the water shortage and accused the KWSB officials of creating water crisis in their town.

The Lyari Rabita Council (LRC) office-bearers said the KWSB was supplying about 8 million gallons daily which could not meet peoples’ requirements. An LRC meeting with its chairman Haji Javed Memon in the chair was held at the council’s office. The meeting rejected the KWSB officials’ claims of supplying between 30mgd to 40mgd water to their localities.

They said Kalri, Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Liaquat Colony, Daryabad, Sangu Lane, Hazara Colony, Gulistan Colony, Rangiwara were facing a severe water crises.

Musa Lane, Baghdadi, Shah Baig Lane, Nawabad, Kalakot, Nawalane, Aath Chowk, Bihar Colony, Kamandri Market, Bakra Piri, Memon Society were given water on alternative days.

The LRC chairman asked the KWSB officials to ensure water supply. Repeated attempts to contact the concerned chief engineer failed as he could not be contacted.—A Reporter
