PESHAWAR March 3: The City District Government Peshawar has decided to shift the fruit and vegetables markets from the city in order to ease traffic congestion, according to district nazim Ghulam Ali.

He was talking to members of a delegation of fruit merchants here on Saturday. Stressing the need for the traders’ cooperation in continuing development projects in urban areas, he said that notices had already been issued to people doing business in the two markets.

He told the members of the Fruit Market Association that the NWFP chief minister was taking keen interest in the project.

The district nazim urged the fruit merchants to urgently shift their shops and warehouses from the city.

Members of the delegation said that they were ready to shift their businesses but urged the district government to help remove their reservations.

Peshawar DCO and SP Traffic briefed the delegation about the plan and sought their suggestions in two days so that they could finalise the new city traffic plan.

The delegation praised the district government’s anti-encroachment drive.—APP
